Title: Hurricane Watch
I was sitting on the beach of a low lying Carribean island with a large crowd of people waiting to see the hurricane roll in. The sky was dark with large heavy clouds occasionally brightened by flashes of lightning. The wind was pretty intense and I had to squint against the sand being blown in my face. The waves were being whipped into a froth as they surged up against the beach. The rain came towards us like a wall of water rising out of the ocean. The air was charged and the the roar was deafening.
And then the sun came out. The hurricane had passed. Everyone began rolling up their blankets and folding their chairs and began to wander off. Kids went back to swimming in the now calm water and the sky became clear blue without a hint of rain.
I began to panic. Off in the distance I could see the colossal wave that was following the storm.
I yelled "TIDAL WAVE!"
People turned and looked and the panic spread! People began screaming and grabbing children and running inland.
I turned and ran through the one story delipated house that pressed up against the beach, plowing through piles of garbage, and jumping kids toys scattered across the roads. I headed towards the highest point on the island which happened to be a parking garage. I raced up through the empty parking garage and made my way to the top floor.
Once I got to the top I saw the wave break against the beach and the water started to slowly rise around the island. The water was thick with floating garbage. I turned and saw a small man standing in the shadows near the stairwell He beckoned me over and introduced himself as my cousin Lorenzo. "I'm turning over the business to you my friend, and here are you're informants"
I looked to where he was pointing and saw a small crowd of people, including a little old man in a loin cloth, a woman dressed in a business suit, and several children ranging from 3 to 14 years old.
"Thanks" I said as I turned to Lorenzo, but he was gone. I went to the front of the Garage and looked down at the rising water and realized that I had to move it somewhere, so I put it in gear and took the wheel and began plowing through the water. The garabge was sloshing around inside the lower levels. Then I woke up.
